Privacy policy
Your data stays on the floor.
Walls keeps track of what gets danced. Here is everything it knows about you and why. Effective October 12, 2026.
Walls Dance LLC ("Walls," "we," "us," or "our") makes Walls, a line dance log for your bar. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share personal information through the Walls website at walls.dance and the Walls mobile app (together, the "Service").
Personal information we collect
Information you give us.
- Account data, such as your email address, used to sign you in and to reach you about Walls.
- Profile data, such as your handle, display name, bio, and an optional profile photo.
- What you log, such as the dances you save, your comfort level on each, the nights you log, and (for contributors) the official bar nights you record. A logged night includes the bar you pick, the date and time, and what you danced.
- Connections, meaning who you follow and who follows you.
- Imports. If you import your dance list by pasting notes, an AI service reads the text to pick out the dance names, and the pasted text is stored with your account. If you import a setlist from a screenshot, the image is read once to pull out song titles and is not kept.
- Communications, such as reports you submit and messages you send us.
Information collected automatically. When you use the Service, we and our analytics provider may collect device data (such as device type, operating system, browser, and IP address, and the general location that can be estimated from it, like city or region) and activity data (such as which pages and features you use and when).
Location. Walls does not use your device's GPS or location services. The only location we have about you is the bar you choose when you log a night.
How we use your personal information
We use personal information to:
- Provide and run the Service, including your account, profile, logs, and social features like follows
- Show your logged nights to the people your settings allow
- Build bar pages from logged nights, without showing who logged them
- Communicate with you about the Service
- Understand how the Service is used so we can improve it
- Review reports, enforce our Terms of Use, and protect the safety of our users and others
- Comply with the law and respond to valid legal requests
Who can see what
Always visible to anyone using Walls, except people you've blocked: your display name, handle, profile photo, and bio, whether your account is public or private.
Private accounts (the default): only followers you approve can see your logged nights, including which bars you went to and when. You approve every follow request.
Public accounts: anyone using Walls, except people you've blocked, can see your profile and all of your logged nights, including past ones.
Bar pages show which dances were logged on a given night and how often they get played over time. They never show who logged them, and nothing on Walls displays your email.
Anything other users can see may be saved, screenshotted, or shared by them, and we can't control what they do with it.
How we share your personal information
Beyond what other users can see under your settings, we share personal information only with:
- Service providers that help us run Walls, such as Cloudflare (hosting), Supabase (database and sign-in), Amplitude (usage analytics), and Anthropic (reading pasted notes and screenshots during imports).
- Professional advisors, such as lawyers and accountants, when they need it to advise us.
- Authorities and others, when we believe in good faith it's needed to comply with the law, respond to legal process, or protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, Walls, or others.
- Business transferees, if Walls is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
Dance tutorial videos are embedded from YouTube and song links point to Spotify. When you play or open those, their privacy policies apply.
Your choices
Profile and privacy settings. You can edit your profile and switch between public and private at any time in account settings. You can remove a follower or block someone from their profile. Removed followers lose access going forward. Blocking works both ways: it removes any follow between you, and your profiles won't show up for each other on Walls. You can report a user from their profile.
Deleting your data. To delete a single night, open it and tap the trash icon. To delete your account, go to account settings in the app or on the website. This removes your profile, your photo, your library, your practice history, the nights you logged, your followers and following, and any notes you pasted into the importer. Dances from deleted nights may still count toward bar page totals, which never show who logged them.
Do Not Track. Some browsers can send "Do Not Track" signals. We currently do not respond to them.
Retention
We keep personal information for as long as we need it to provide the Service, and longer only when needed to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our terms. When you delete content or your account, we delete it as described above within a reasonable time, though copies may remain in backups for a limited period.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no service is completely secure, and we can't guarantee the security of your information.
Children
Walls is not intended for anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your state privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we have about you, to get a copy of it, and to correct or delete it. To make a request, contact us at the address below. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll let you know in the app or by email.
